Reaching People Impacted by Abortion

Hands supporting other handsGod is mending the hearts of those impacted by abortion through the efforts of The Word Among Us Partners and Support After Abortion (SAA), an organization created to help people find hope, healing, and connection following an abortion experience.

SAA approached Partners in 2020. Their research found that only 16 percent of women and 40 percent of men desire a religious approach to healing following an abortion experience. However, few secular abortion healing options exist, highlighting a massive gap in meeting the needs of millions of grieving people nationwide.

To help fill this gap, Partners and SAA developed The Support After Abortion: Keys to Hope and Healing booklets, a suite of introductory abortion healing resources for both women and men that meet people where they are in their faith journey.

These booklets are an approach to connecting with people who desire to heal but may not be ready to hear that they are loved and forgiven by God. Providers across the country are using them to start a conversation about healing and to communicate with someone considering abortion.

Due to their success, in 2022, these booklets were adapted into video training for providers and clients through online curriculum centers, and as of today, they serve pregnancy centers nationwide.

Keys to Hope and Healing has changed everything for us,” a provider shared. “We weren’t sure about using a secular resource, but we’ve been able to serve so many clients who weren’t ready for a religious approach.”
